DeeNice from the Klitty Crew

DeeNice was born on 17 July 1987 at 7:17 in the morning – and she has been collecting sevens ever since. Thirty years later, on her birthday, she picked the date and the time for her biggest plan: on 17 July 2017 at 17:17 she founded the Klitty Crew in Zurich with Kinky, SinDee and PoshX.

The grey eminence

DeeNice is the brain behind the crew. She rarely paints in public, but almost every wall the crew has painted started on a page of her black notebook: the plan, the grid, the colours and the name of the wall owner she will talk to. At the monthly meetings at the Dada Kaffee she listens to everyone, takes notes and then makes the final call – usually with a quiet «a bit to the left».

Study first, ask later

Together with VenRod she studies the artists the crew admires. She decides whom they would one day like to talk to, he does the reading and the questions. Their rule has never changed: study first, ask later.

From first walls to klittycrew.com

DeeNice steered the crew from its first sticker swap to murals, workshops, a zine, fan shops and finally a home of its own at klittycrew.com. She still prefers to stay a bit of a mystery – sunglasses on, pink scarf around her neck, notebook under her arm.

«A crew is a plan that more than one cat believes in.»
