DeeNice turns the page – CatMas 2026 and a winter wall to find

Zurich – 2 November 2026, 17:17. My kitchen, the window already dark, a pot of tea and the black notebook open on a fresh page. On the radiator: the white witch hat, drying after its bath.

Closing the Halloween pages

Before a new plan, I finish the old one. So I read the party pages one last time and ticked the boxes. Doors at 21:17: done. No candles: done. Quiet corner: used by four guests and one tired vampire. Two prizes voted by the guests: SinDee for best costume, Kinky for best dance. Under the last line I wrote one word: good. That is the highest mark my notebook gives.

A new heading

Then I turned the page and wrote: Cataclausita – CatMas 2026. Our Christmas cat is already in the world: the poster and the T-shirts are in the shop. But a cat in a shop is only half a Christmas. The other half is what we do with it. My first list has three points: a small CatMas evening at the Dada Kaffee in December, a card for every wall owner who ever said yes to us, and one present we make with our paws, not with a printer.

A wall for the winter

The second heading is shorter: winter wall. Painting in the cold is slow. The paint thickens, the paws stiffen, and the light is gone by five. So the wall has to be worth it. Not too big, not too high, close to a warm room, and owned by somebody who smiles when they open the door. I asked SinDee to keep her eyes open on her walks. She knows the quiet streets better than any of us.

The grid can wait

Usually I start with measurements. Not this time. First we find the wall, then we meet the owner, then we listen. Only after that do I draw lines. A grid on a wall that nobody wants is just a cage.

For now

Tea, the notebook, and the first snow on the forecast for later this month. The crew is resting today. Tomorrow we start again.

A crew is a plan that more than one cat believes in – even in winter.
