The morning after – Kinky's KC Halloween party report

Kinky looks back on the KC Halloween party at the Dada Kaffee: the best moments, the guest votes for best costume and best dance, and one pumpkin belly that survived.

1 November 2026 · 11:20 · Kinky

Zurich – 1 November 2026, 11:20. Sofa, blanket, a mug of tea the size of a pumpkin, glitter in places glitter should never be, and my pumpkin belly drying on the radiator.

The doors at 21:17

DeeNice opened the door at exactly 21:17, because of course she did. Within ten minutes the Dada Kaffee was full of witches, ghosts, two astronauts, a very confident banana and a lot of LED tea lights flickering like they meant it. The paper bats held. The sticker-bombed pumpkin got more photos than any of us.

The best moments

SinDee's bones glowing when the lights went down. PoshX handing out water with a wand like she was casting a spell of hydration. VenRod disappearing into the corner at midnight with his recorder, very serious, very vampire. DeeNice on a bar stool by the boombox, quietly smiling at a room that was doing exactly what she hoped. And the shuffle: one second Monty Python, the next "Lean on Me", then something slow from PoshX's list, and somehow everybody kept dancing.

The votes

At one o'clock DeeNice opened the voting box and read the slips out loud, one by one. Best costume: SinDee, the glow skeleton. Nobody was surprised, except SinDee, who pulled the beanie over her sunglasses. Best dance: Kinky. That's me. I may have done a lap of the café. I may have winked at every single table. I thanked "Walking on Sunshine" in my speech, which was four words long.

The pumpkin belly survived

Seven hours of dancing, two hugs from strangers in sheets and one close call with a plate of soup, and the belly is still round, the KC face still grinning. One seam is a little tired. So am I. Tonight I'll stitch it, tomorrow it goes into a box marked "next year".

Thank you

To everyone who came, voted, danced or just sat in the quiet corner for a bit: you made it. If you want to keep the party going, my happy songs are still waiting on the CatJuxe.

A good party is a sketch that everyone colours in together.
