DeeNice counts down to 21:17 – the last page of the notebook

Party day with DeeNice: the last page of the black notebook, the final jobs before the doors open at 21:17 and one quiet cup of tea before a busy night.

31 October 2026 · 12:17 · DeeNice

Zurich – 31 October 2026, 12:17. My kitchen, a pot of tea, the white witch hat on the chair opposite me like a guest who arrived far too early.

The last page

The black notebook has one empty page left for this party. I always keep one. On it I wrote only the time, 21:17, and underlined it twice. Everything else is already planned on the pages before: the costumes, the guest list, PoshX's five points, VenRod's interview card, Kinky's decorations, SinDee's dance. A plan is finished when the last page has room for the night itself.

Still to do before the doors open

- Pick up two more boxes of LED tea lights. Real candles: none. Not one. Not even "a small one". - New batteries for the boombox on the counter. It survived a flea market, it can survive a party. - Set CatJuxe to shuffle, so every playlist gets its turn – Kinky's sunshine, SinDee's helping songs, PoshX's late-night list, VenRod's beats and my roses. You can try the same shuffle at home on the CatJuxe. - The voting box for the two prizes, best costume and best dance. Paper slips, pencils, a slot in the lid. I will not peek. - Check the quiet corner: two chairs, a blanket, a lamp that is soft enough. - Leave the broom at the door. It is a costume, not a tool.

A quiet moment

At five o'clock I will do what I do before every big evening: one cup of tea, one song, no phone. Hildegard Knef, "Für mich soll's rote Rosen regnen". I have listened to it before every important night since before there was a crew. It does not make me braver. It makes me calmer, and calm is better.

What I want from tonight

Not perfection. A room where five cats and their friends feel safe enough to be silly. Costumes that fall apart a little. A little to the left, a little too loud, a little too late. If the doors open at 21:17 and nobody remembers the plan by midnight, the plan worked.

Plan everything, then let the night do the rest. See you at 21:17.
