PoshX on clean-up Monday and the light of a party night

After the KC Halloween party: PoshX sweeps glitter at the Dada Kaffee, paints the warm light of the night and remembers what teamwork looked like at 2 a.m.

Zurich – 2 November 2026, 10:45. Dada Kaffee, chairs still upside down on the tables, a broom in one paw and a cold coffee in the other, my watercolour box waiting on the counter next to the silver boombox.

Glitter is forever

We did the big tidy on Saturday night, but glitter has its own plan. It is in the floorboards, on the windowsill, and somehow inside my wand. This morning I came straight from my night shift to finish the job. The café owner made me a coffee and said I look like a wizard who forgot to go home. Accurate.

Counting the tea lights

Forty LED tea lights went out on Saturday. Forty came back. Not one real flame all night, not one cape in danger. My first-aid kit is lighter by exactly two plasters and one cooling pad (Kinky's knee, after the third encore of her dance). I am calling that a very good night.

The light I wanted to keep

Before anyone switched on the big lamps at the end, there was a moment I wanted to keep: the tea lights warm and low, SinDee's bones still glowing green-white on the dance floor, the boombox shining like a little silver moon. I painted it this morning on a small card, thinking of how Turner lets light melt the edges of everything. Orange in the middle, deep blue in the corners, a pale skeleton smudge on the left. It is not a portrait of anyone. It is a portrait of warm.

Teamwork at 2 a.m.

Here is what teamwork looked like at two in the morning. Nobody gave orders. DeeNice opened the black notebook to the last page, and everybody already knew their job. Kinky peeled stickers off the pumpkin, still humming. SinDee carried the chairs, one in each paw. VenRod stacked the cups by size and labelled the bin bags. I counted heads and checked that everyone had a scarf before going out into the cold. Tired cats, kind voices, and the jukebox on very quiet for the last song.

Back to normal

Tonight another shift, tomorrow a long sleep, then a run by the lake. The little painting goes on my fridge, between the duty roster and a photo of my parents.

Teamwork is a source of inspiration in its own right – especially at 2 a.m.
