When Walls Get Cold, the Sketchbooks Come Out

November at the Dada Kaffee in Zurich: too cold for murals, so the Klitty Crew starts weekly winter sketchbook evenings and reviews its first sticker run.

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 23 November 2017, 20:30.

We started late because of me. My shift ran over, and I came straight from the hospital with my red beanie pulled low and a very large tea in mind. The others had kept me a seat and a plate of roasted vegetables. That is what a crew is.

The sticker run, reviewed

The first run worked. All the stickers went to the places that had said yes, and one café owner already asked for more. Kinky claimed she saw a tourist take a photo of the winking cat. SinDee says it was a pigeon. The truth will never be known.

Sketchbook evenings

It is too cold to paint outside now, and paint does not like frost either. So DeeNice wrote a new line into the black notebook: sketchbook evenings, every Thursday until spring, here at the back table. No big plans, just drawing together. Letters, characters, colours. I brought my Turner postcard and tried to make a cat out of a sunset. Kinky is practising her K. It still looks like a chair, but now a more comfortable one.

A December idea

Kinky proposed a sticker swap for our December meeting: everyone designs one new sticker at home and we trade them like little presents. No buying, only making. We all agreed before she had finished the sentence.

Painting alone is practice. Painting together is inspiration. – PoshX
