Touch-Ups, Heat Waves and Staying Four

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 23 August 2022, 21:00. Hot, sticky evening. We ordered iced coffee and sat as close to the open window as possible. Even SinDee took off her scarf. Not the beanie, though.

After the party The group portrait hangs in DeeNice's hallway now. She walks past it every morning and says it "looks at her too much". Kinky says that means it's good.

We also read the messages from the anniversary walk. Neighbours sent photos of "Five Lives" stickers. One kitten from the 2021 workshop sent a drawing of her own crew with five tails each. I may have read it three times.

Open Again needs some love On the walk we noticed: "Open Again" is fading where the afternoon sun hits it. The Turner gold has gone pale, and someone's bicycle scratched the doorway cat. Decision: a touch-up weekend in early September, with the owner's okay (he said "yes, make it happy again"). I bring the gold, SinDee the blue, Kinky fixes her cat. DeeNice brings the notebook and the lemonade, which is fair.

Staying four After February, we promised to talk about new members after the anniversary. We did. Short and honest this time. The painters who walked with us are friends, and they're welcome to every jam and workshop. But the crew stays four. DeeNice wrote it down without drama. Nobody was hurt. It just felt right.

I have nights all week, so this was a short meeting for me. I left at ten, happy.
