Seventeen Songs for 17:17 – Anniversary Countdown

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 14 June 2022, 18:30. A warm evening, the door wide open, the street noise drifting in. On the table: a fat envelope of freshly printed "Five Lives" stickers. Kinky stroked them like a kitten.

The plan for 17 July DeeNice read the anniversary page from the notebook. It's a Sunday, which is not our usual meeting day, but some dates don't move. Afternoon: the memory walk past all our walls, from "KC Hello" in Kreis 5 to "Open Again" in Zürich West, sticking "Five Lives" along the way where we're allowed. 17:17: meeting at our table here. Then a small painting session: PoshX's idea of a group portrait, each of us painting one of the others on one board.

I drew Kinky in the lottery. PoshX drew me. Kinky drew DeeNice, who has never been painted, and who looked slightly worried.

Seventeen songs The music had to be settled early, or we'd still be fighting on the day. Rule: seventeen songs, for 17:17. Each of us chooses four. DeeNice chooses the seventeenth, the tie-breaker.

PoshX: Bowie, The Cure, Annie Lennox, Depeche Mode. Kinky: four AC/DC songs, no surprise. Me: four songs I could listen to on a long walk. DeeNice wrote her choice on a slip of paper and folded it. Secret until 17:17.

Guests After February's talk, we decided: the painters who asked to join are welcome on the walk. The table at 17:17 stays just us four.
