Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 11 March 2021, 20:15. We started late because PoshX came straight from a shift, still smelling faintly of hand sanitiser. Nobody minded. She had the best news of the night anyway – no, wait, I had it.
Yes The owner of the workshop building in Zürich West wrote back. One sentence: "Paint it, but make it happy." I read it out loud twice. Kinky did a small dance between the chairs. SinDee pretended to stay calm and then took off her sunglasses, which for her is basically fireworks.
So it is official: "Open Again" goes on the long back wall, legal and blessed.
Sunrise colours PoshX brought a book of Turner paintings and opened it at a sunrise over water. "This. Yellow that's almost white, orange that melts." SinDee wants her ice-blue sky to break into exactly that light. Kinky asked for one loud pink, "for balance". I let them argue for ten minutes and then wrote the palette down: ice blue, Turner gold, melting orange, one pink.
The plan We paint in May, over one long weekend, once the nights are warmer. PoshX already swapped two shifts. Before that: a test patch on cardboard in April and a shopping list for paint and rollers.
The "Almost There" stickers are out, by the way. Kinky counted none, because we don't count. She just smiled.
"Make it happy. That's the best brief we've ever had." – DeeNice
