The Owner Said Yes, and Then We Went Very Quiet

At the Dada Kaffee in Zurich the Klitty Crew celebrates a yes for its biggest legal wall yet in Zürich West and splits up the Klitty Skyline design.

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 15 February 2024, 20:30. I ordered the vegetarian plate before I took my coat off. Then DeeNice put a single sheet on the table, and none of us touched the food for five minutes.

The yes

It was a letter from a wall owner in Zürich West. A long, high wall, longer than anything we have ever painted. The answer: yes, for the Klitty Skyline, painting in June, as long as we keep it friendly and finish what we start.

We went very quiet. Then SinDee laughed, then PoshX hugged DeeNice, which nobody does, and DeeNice let it happen, which nobody expected.

Who draws what

The skyline will be a whole city of cats. Roofs, towers, bridges over a river that looks a little like the Limmat. We split the wall into four zones:

- Kinky: the left side, the busy streets, New York energy, subway-car colours - SinDee: the sky and water, cold blues fading into pink - PoshX: the centre, where everything meets, painted together - DeeNice: the full plan, the grid and the final sketch

And yes, the garden chair goes on a rooftop. Small. Somewhere. You will have to look.

The playlist problem

Painting a wall for days means music for days. PoshX proposed one playlist per zone. I proposed AC/DC for all zones. We postponed the vote. We always postpone the vote. It always ends the same way.

"Big wall, small chair. That's balance." – me
