Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 10 January 2024, 19:30. Frost on the tram windows, pink beanie pulled down to my sunglasses. Inside, DeeNice had drawn a map of Zurich on a napkin.
The napkin map
Klitty Skyline needs a wall that is tall and long. DeeNice marked every big wall we have seen in the last year. Zürich West, two in Kreis 5, one near the tracks in Oerlikon, one in Wiedikon close to our old autumn wall from 2018.
We split them up. Each cat visits two walls this month, takes pictures, and if there is an owner to ask, asks politely. No yes, no paint. That has always been the rule.
Oerlikon afternoon
Last Saturday I led the drawing afternoon with Kinky's contact and her older neighbours. Twelve of them, between seventy and ninety, I guessed. I brought my blues and told them about the lake at home. One man drew the house he grew up in, from memory, every window. One woman drew a cat in a pink beanie and said it was me. It was a very good likeness. Too good.
They want to come again in spring. I said yes before DeeNice could open the notebook.
What else
PoshX's shifts are heavy until February. Kinky is drawing skyline shapes in every free minute: towers with ears, chimneys with tails. She says the garden chair will be hidden somewhere. Of course it will.
