SinDee Comes Home From the Edge of the Map

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 26 October 2023, 19:15. SinDee arrived last, green puffer jacket, pink boots, pink beanie, and a bag of pine cones that she put on the table without a word.

Back from the farm

She had been home. The farm near the lake, the animals, long walks until the wind said stop. Her own money, her own route, as always. She showed us a sketchbook full of birch trees and frozen fences, and one page that was only a single line: the horizon over the water.

Nobody spoke for a moment. Then Kinky asked if the pine cones were edible. They are not.

The autumn run

Before SinDee left, we did the sticker run: the autumn garden chair with orange leaves, along the Limmat and in Kreis 4, only where stickers are welcome. Kinky says she saw a kid pointing at one. I believe her, mostly.

Decisions

November: the last workshop of the series, an open evening. Everyone who came this year brings one page. We bring the snacks.

The winter archive: all of our 2023 sketches, every page, sorted and labelled. Workshops, Lisbon, the tile wall, the Siberian birches. SinDee volunteers her pages first. Kinky still calls it the pile. PoshX will scan on her free days.

I wrote one more line under it: think bigger next year. I did not read it aloud.
