One Page Each: The Open Evening That Ended Our Series

At the Dada Kaffee in Zurich the Klitty Crew looks back on the open evening that closed its 2023 workshop series and starts the winter sketch archive.

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 15 November 2023, 20:45. Late start, my fault, an evening shift. DeeNice had kept my coffee warm by putting the notebook on top of the cup. It almost worked.

The open evening

Last Saturday the workshop series ended. We asked everyone who came this year to bring one page. They brought more. Letters from February, wobbly blues from March, the long roll from April, the kids' portraits of us from May, the teenagers' boards from September.

The quiet kid from the very first session came back. He brought a full sketchbook. DeeNice found his name in the notebook, the one with the little star, and showed him. I am a nurse. I see a lot of faces. That one I will keep.

The archive begins

Now the winter job. DeeNice wants our own 2023 pages in order before the new year. We split it up:

- Kinky: workshop sketches and every version of the garden chair - SinDee: Lisbon and Siberia - PoshX: scanning on my free days - DeeNice: labels, dates, and the final say

We meet on Sunday afternoons in December to sort, with tea and a strict music rule: one album each, in turn. Kinky smiled far too quickly at that.

The neighbours in Oerlikon

Kinky's contact from September said yes to a joint drawing afternoon with her older neighbours in January. SinDee will lead it.

"A workshop ends when the last person leaves with a pencil. Nobody gave theirs back." – Kinky
