Six Years Old, Freshly Back From Lisbon

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 17 July 2023, 18:17. We meant to toast at 17:17, like the day we started. PoshX's shift ran late, so we waited one hour exactly. Nobody minded. The minute still had seventeen in it.

Six candles, one cupcake

Six years of KC. Kinky brought a single vegetarian cupcake and stuck six matches in it. SinDee blew them out before the wish was finished. I wrote the wish down anyway. It stays in the notebook.

What Lisbon gave us

We spread the sketchbooks across two tables. Tiles in every corner of every page. Blue and white patterns, doorways, cats on stairs, a rooftop at sunset where Kinky's contact introduced us to four artists who now follow our sketches. Kinky came back with a new friend. SinDee came back with a new blue. PoshX came back with a sunburn on her nose and refused to discuss it.

The decision

We want to bring Lisbon home. Not a copy, a reply. A tile mural: each crew member paints one big square, like an azulejo, and together they make one wall. The owner of a legal wall in Zürich West said yes last week. We paint in late August, when the heat breaks a little.

Kinky draws the outline grid. PoshX plans the team days. SinDee mixes the blues. I bring the ladder and the list.
