Two Shores – Our First Wall With DonD in Istanbul

Istanbul – 3 May 2023, 20:15. My paws still smell of paint, and my last ferry home leaves in forty minutes. Time to write this down before I forget anything.

Two Shores

DonD's youth-centre wall is long and narrow, with a view of the water from the roof. We called the piece "Two Shores". On the left, his letters – the word for "together" in his flowing style, gold and deep red like the old signs. On the right, my part: a crowd of small cats waving from two ferries, painted in the soft blues I learned from Monet and the stormy sky I stole from Turner. In the middle the two ferries almost touch.

Kids from the centre painted the waves. One of them asked why my cats wear glasses. I said: so they can see the other side.

What comes next

DonD wants to see Zurich. I told him about the Dada Kaffee, our notebook and our playlist wars. He laughed and said he would bring his own music. DeeNice will love him, I think – or put him straight to work.

I came for the light. I'm leaving with a friend and a wall. – PoshX
