New Year, Big Wall: Seventeen Starts to Take Shape

The seventeenth again, which was not planned, but nobody believed me. Four sketchbooks on the table, four cups of coffee, and one plate of spinach pastries that Kinky had checked twice before letting anyone near them.

Four ideas, one wall

Everyone presented their Seventeen sketches. Kinky drew a giant number 17 made of cats climbing over each other. SinDee painted a winter landscape with a lake that looked suspiciously like Baikal. PoshX brought soft orange and blue skies, Turner in a beanie. Mine was a clock at 17:17. After two hours we had a plan that uses all of it: the clock in the centre, the cats climbing the numbers, PoshX's sky behind and SinDee's lake at the bottom.

The year in the notebook

I wrote the year's plan on a fresh page. Spring: Seventeen. Summer: a street jam where other painters can join. Later: something for kids, because people keep asking. SinDee wants it all to stay small and honest. PoshX wants it big. We agreed on "big and honest".

Homework

Before February, SinDee and Kinky will look for a wall. It has to be large, legal and preferably not facing a busy road, because ladders and trams are a bad mix. PoshX will make a colour list. I will make sure nobody forgets the clean-up plan.

Kinky also mentioned, very casually, that she might fly to New York in April. We will come back to that.
