Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 7 June 2021, 19:15. A Monday, which nobody likes, but PoshX had the evening free, so Monday it was. Warm enough to keep the window open.
The list My notebook page for the jam is full. Boards: six from SinDee, two more from a neighbour. Paint: leftovers from "Open Again" plus fresh black and white. Invitations: forty little cards, hand-lettered, delivered on foot. Snacks: vegetarian, all of them, Kinky made sure before I could finish the sentence.
We decided on one rule for the day: every guest paints at least one line. Kids, grandparents, shy cats, loud cats. One line each.
The music Then the playlist. PoshX brought a list: Bowie, Annie Lennox, The Cure, Depeche Mode. Very elegant. Kinky brought a list: AC/DC, AC/DC and, after some thought, AC/DC. SinDee said she would be happy with birds and wind, which helped nobody.
Forty minutes later we had a compromise. PoshX gets the afternoon, Kinky gets the evening. The final song of the night is "Highway to Hell" because Kinky threatened to sing it herself otherwise. I wrote "peace treaty" in the margin.
Birthday thoughts The jam is two weeks before our fourth birthday. Somebody asked if we should do something on 17 July. We will. Quietly, at 17:17, here at this table. Some things don't need a party.
