Halfway Up the Klitty Skyline, Paint in Our Fur

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 5 June 2024, 21:15. Late meeting, straight from the wall. Four cats, four colours of paint in the fur, one very patient waiter.

Three days in

The Klitty Skyline is happening. Three days on the wall in Zürich West, and the left half is alive. Kinky's streets are full of windows, laundry lines and a subway car with ears. SinDee spent two days at the top of the scaffold and came down with a sky that makes people stop on their bikes.

PoshX's swapping plan works. Two up, two down, every two hours, water every hour. Nobody fainted. Nobody fell. Somebody, I will not say who, tried to bring a fourth coffee up the ladder.

The problem

The centre bridge is harder than we thought. The cats crossing it look stiff, like a queue at the post office. PoshX wants to paint them together, all four of us at once, so each cat on the bridge gets a little of everyone. We decided to try it on Friday.

I will be on the bridge too. Not in public, I said. Behind the scaffolding cloth, I said. The crew agreed far too quickly.

Final days

Thursday: sky and water finished. Friday: the bridge, all paws. Saturday and Sunday: details, the garden chair on its rooftop, outlines. The owner visits on Monday.
