Four Bridges to Stockholm, Drawn in January

January 2022 at the Dada Kaffee in Zurich – the Klitty Crew compares bridge sketches for the Stockholm wall and starts a winter sketchbook evening series.

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 18 January 2022, 19:00. Dark at five, cold at six, warm again at seven, when the four of us had our coats off and our sketchbooks open.

Four bridges Everybody brought a bridge, as promised in November. Kinky's is a long cat lying across the water, paws touching both shores. SinDee's is made of ice floes, each one a different blue. PoshX drew a stone arch full of hands, like her "Open Again" hands, only reaching from both sides. Mine was a simple line drawing of two cats shaking paws on a footbridge. They all said mine was "elegant", which is the polite word for "too simple".

We'll merge them, as always. Kinky's long cat is the bridge, SinDee's ice is the water, PoshX's hands hold the railing, my two cats meet in the middle. I drew the combined version in the notebook while they argued about the colour of the sky.

Sketchbook Thursdays Winter is long, and walls are cold. So we decided to bring back an old habit: sketchbook evenings every second Thursday at someone's kitchen table until March. No plan, no theme, just drawing together and passing books around. The Stockholm crew will get photos of everything.

A first word about July Kinky asked: "What do we do for five years?" Nobody answered. Then everybody answered at once. I wrote "17:17" at the top of a fresh page and closed the notebook. February.

"A bridge is just a wall that learned to reach." – DeeNice
