Street Jam Countdown: One Wall, Many Painters, Zero Arrogance

June meeting at the Dada Kaffee in Zurich: final plans for the Klitty Crew's first summer street jam in Kreis 4, plus a long fight about the playlist.

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 21 June 2018, 20:15.

The longest day of the year, and it felt like it. We sat until the light finally went, with the windows open and my pink beanie on the table for once, because even I have limits.

The wall and the date

The owner in Kreis 4 said yes. A long fence wall next to a quiet yard, perfect for a jam. We fixed the date: the first Saturday in July, from noon until evening. Six other local painters have asked to join, and we said yes to all of them. One rule only: nobody acts like a star. I said it twice so it would stick. If you come to paint with us, you come as a neighbour, not as a celebrity.

The list

DeeNice drew a plan of the wall in the notebook and divided it into sections. Each painter gets one, and the crew paints a connecting band of pink and blue that runs through all of them. PoshX swapped two shifts and will bring a first-aid kit, which is very her. Kinky finished the flyer: a winking cat holding a spray can like a microphone.

The playlist

Then the real argument. PoshX wanted The Cure and Bowie. I wanted something calm for the afternoon. Kinky wanted AC/DC. After forty minutes we agreed on a mix. It ends with AC/DC. It always ends with AC/DC.

Paint loud, speak honestly, leave the wall cleaner than you found it. – SinDee
