Four Big Ideas for 2020 and Only One Notebook

Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 21 January 2020, 19:30. DeeNice gave us homework in December: one big idea each for 2020. Just one. I brought three and hid two in my sketchbook. She found them in about ten seconds.

The pitches

SinDee went first. She wants a series of small nature pieces, quiet ones, birds and trees in grey corners of the city. Calm, simple, very SinDee.

PoshX wants a summer jam with other crews and a big shared wall. "More paws, more ideas." She's been saying that since Berlin.

I pitched a long wall in Zürich West, all four of us, with bold letters and a big street party feeling. I promised there would be no garden chairs in the letters. Nobody believed me.

DeeNice pitched nothing. She just listened and wrote. Then she drew lines between the ideas until they connected.

The decision

Plan for 2020: a big spring wall in Zürich West, with my letters, PoshX's characters and SinDee's birds flying through them. Paint it in April, then use it as the start of a summer jam with friends from other crews. SinDee's small nature pieces can happen all year in between.

DeeNice already has a lead on a wall. A warehouse owner who saw the tree wall in Oerlikon and asked about us. She'll talk to him in February.

Then we argued about the playlist for April. In January. That's how excited we are.

It ended with AC/DC. It always ends with AC/DC.
