Dada Kaffee, Zurich – 16 September 2021, 18:30. Early meeting tonight because I start a night shift at ten. The others came early for me, which I will never forget. DeeNice even ordered my tea before I arrived.
Why now At the comeback jam, so many kittens wanted to paint that we ran out of brushes. One little cat asked me: "When can I do it again?" I didn't have an answer. Tonight we found one.
Our first kids' drawing workshop was back in 2018. Then life happened, then the pandemic happened. Now it's time. Decision: one workshop in October, on a Saturday afternoon, in a friendly community room in Wiedikon whose caretaker already said yes.
The plan Kinky leads – she grew up with eight family members in one apartment, she can handle a room full of kittens. Theme: "Draw your own crew". Every kitten invents four characters and gives them names. SinDee brings big paper rolls. DeeNice takes care of permission slips and lists, because of course she does.
I'll bring pencils and the Monet postcards. Water lilies are very good for showing that you don't need hard lines to make something beautiful.
Snacks and music Kinky asked about vegetarian snacks: apple slices, carrots, little cheese crackers. Music: something gentle. Kinky suggested AC/DC "at a low volume". We said no. She's still negotiating.
