Zurich – 24 October 2026, 10:42. Kitchen window, second coffee, the skeleton suit drying over a chair after a long night on the roof. My paws still smell of cold air.
The question nobody else asked
A glow-in-the-dark suit is a promise. You charge it under a lamp, you switch off the light, and it shines. But for how long? At a party that starts at 21:17 and ends who-knows-when, a skeleton that fades at half past ten is just a cat in pyjamas. So last night I went up to test it properly, with a timer on my phone and the beanie pulled down over my ears.
Three hours of bones
First half hour: bright, almost green, like the bones were laughing. After one hour: softer, more like moonlight on snow. After two: I could still see my ribs, but only if I looked kindly. At three hours the left knee gave up. Conclusion: charge the suit under the lamp before the party and again around midnight in the back room. I wrote it down so PoshX doesn't have to.
The routine in the dark
Two steps left, a spin, the peace sign, the freeze. On a dark roof the freeze is the best part, because for a second you are only a few glowing lines floating over the chimneys. I did it twelve times. On the ninth I nearly spun into the washing line. The washing line won.
Windows across the street
Around midnight the house opposite was mostly dark, with a few yellow squares still awake. In one window a kid stood with his nose on the glass and watched me. I waved. He waved back, disappeared, and a minute later there were three faces. I did the whole routine once more, just for them. Best audience so far, and nobody asked for a ticket.
Baikal in the lungs
The cold up there was the clean kind, the kind that makes your nose sting. It took me back to nights on the farm when the lake started to freeze and you could hear the ice talking, long low sounds like whales far away. My grandmother said the ice only talks to those who stand still. Last night I stood still between rehearsals, and Zurich was quiet enough to hear the trams sleeping.
A skeleton who glows for three hours is enough. After that, you dance in the dark like everyone else.
