Zurich – 28 January 2026, 19:10. The parcels arrived this week: one from Istanbul, one from Cairo, one from Buenos Aires. I opened them on my kitchen floor at six in the morning, straight after a night shift, and cried a little. Good tears.
Three panels, one line
One Line Around the World works like this: each artist paints a panel, and a single line runs through all of them – it enters on the left and leaves on the right, where the next panel picks it up.
DonD's panel turns the line into the edge of a ferry wave with his golden letters riding on it. BandO's turns it into a star pattern that opens like a window. BoD's line becomes a swirl of leaves with "siempre juntos" hidden in the curls.
The Zurich panel
Now it's our turn. I sent photos of the three panels to the crew this morning, and for once the group chat went quiet – which almost never happens. Then DeeNice sent a photo of her notebook: one line drawn across a whole page. That's her way of saying yes. The panels go on our table at the Dada Kaffee at the February meeting.
Our panel will be painted by all four of us. Kinky wants letters, SinDee wants a lake, I want faces, and DeeNice wants to decide where the line ends. Maybe it doesn't end. Maybe it just goes back to Istanbul.
I travelled alone and came home with a crew that's bigger than before. – PoshX
